Untold Stories illuminates the lives of the African Americans who lived and worked at Hay House, tracing their experiences across more than a century of profound social change. The exhibit follows their journeys from enslavement through emancipation, segregation, and the Civil Rights Movement, revealing how national history shaped daily life within the mansion’s walls.
Through archival research, personal stories, and newly interpreted spaces, the exhibit honors the individuals whose labor, resilience, and presence were essential to the operation and evolution of Hay House. Â
