A Week of Architectural Exploration for Young Learners
One-week Day Camps
Join us for an engaging one-week day camp at the Johnston-Felton-Hay House, designed for rising 4th through 6th graders with an interest in history and preservation. Throughout the week, campers will study Macon’s architectural heritage, examine a range of architectural styles, and gain an understanding of the importance of preserving historic structures.
Highlights of the camp include:
- Visit Macon Van Tour – Campers trace the region’s history from its earliest settlements, including the site of what is now Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park.
- Hands-On Architectural Learning – Participants explore architectural and painting finishes through guided, tactile activities.Â
- Creative Workshop Experience – At Historic Macon’s Second Street workshop, campers discover traditional building techniques and design their own small projects.
By the end of the week, participants will have a deeper appreciation for how the past shapes our present and why it’s essential to preserve it for future generations.
